Never eat anything
larger than your head

Enjoy the slideshows below...birds struggling with their food...
This dainty shorebird found him/her self a prize...and managed to get it to go down that narrow throat...
Neotropical cormorant landed on the pond, dove under the water and for the next twenty or thirty seconds there was nothing to see but two or three places where the surface was briefly disturbed. Then, she/he emerged from the depths with a fish in his/her bill, which he proceeded to realign with her/his mouth and swallowed. Then, took a drink of water, and took off. All told, the entire event took less than a minute from landing to take-off. This drama took place at one of the alligator ponds at Estero Llano Grande State Park in Texas.
Jonathan Livingston Seagull this one wasn't: Not sure what it was she/he was trying to eat, but it took some effort to get it down the gullet. And if it was that much trouble getting it in, imagine the trouble later...
